GREEN RECOGNITION FROM SOLAR IMPULSE FOUNDATION
Our green building solutions have been recognized by none other than the Solar Impulse Foundation, who champion the most innovative technologies that protect the environment in a financially positive way.
About Solar Impulse
Five years ago, Bertrand Piccard concluded his flight around the world in a solar powered airplane. The performance demonstrated what clean technologies can do and triggered the creation of the Solar Impulse Foundation (SIF) to accelerate the wide adoption of clean technologies.
Boosting the adoption of profitable solutions to protect the environment, in 2018 Solar Impulse Foundation started to select 1000 solutions that can protect the environment in a profitable way and present them to decision-makers to fast-track their implementation. Selected solutions receive a label from the Foundation as proof of their positive environmental and economic impact. Each awarded solution was strictly assessed by a pool of independent experts.

Our recognized solutions

This solution aims to accelerate the provision of schools in one of the poorest countries in the world, Malawi. More than 36,000 classrooms are needed and thanks to?3D printing, all those buildings could be completed within 10 years.

ACC Gold Water Shield cement is an innovative building material product for home builders. It shields houses and inhabitants from issues such as dampness and seepage and is more eco-friendly (compared to OPC), thus assisting them in?building long lasting homes?and an everlasting planet.

Aggneo??recycles concrete waste by having dedicated platforms located near concrete plants and close to city centres (-2km). The process is a circular economy loop as C&DW are recycled into aggregates for roads and for concrete. These aggregates, stored in the open for a long time and with significant exposure, can further capture and sequestrate CO2.

Airium?aims at making the insulation of building envelopes affordable and accessible in developing countries, as well as sustainable, long lasting and recyclable. One application is the insulation of flat roofs to build and insulate at the same time. Foamed onsite out of purely local ingredients, Airium Thermoroof has less embodied carbon than the alternative system, encourages a bigger chunk of the building stock to go for insulation thanks to its lower cost and is entirely recyclable when end of life comes.

Most newly constructed buildings face issues like seepage, dampness & leakages within the first 5 to 10 years. These problems are very common in India due to the climate. Ambuja?Kawach?is a specially formulated product with high-quality water repellent properties which acts as a shield against water seepage in all construction applications.

Base Vial is a special cement used to improve and stabilize soils for sustainable road construction. The solution modifies the characteristics of the soils and the granular bases (new or existing) by incorporating cement and water, improving its mechanical properties as the cement hydrates.

The marine biodiversity is under big threat: more than half of coral reefs and seagrass have disappeared since the 20th century and over 40% of the ocean surface shows critical signs. Experts estimate that 1/8 of marine species could have disappeared by 2050 if no action is taken. Holcim’s bio-active concrete solution aims to?restore marine biodiversity. By boosting the natural process of habitat decolonization, it enables marine life to come back.

The?Circular Explorer?is an energy self-serviced boat built to actively collect plastic garbage out of the water to recycle waste. By collecting, sorting, re- and upcycling plastic waste from rivers and coastal areas, the Circular Explorer contributes to healthier marine ecosystems and engages with local partners for the most impactful and sustainable recycling solutions.

Ductal??is an efficient solution for the repair of corrugated steel structures. The objective is to offer public works owners and road/motorway managers a lasting solution that has less impact on the environment, allowing them to?rehabilitate?buried metal culverts that are heavily corroded and at the end of their service life.

Durabric?is an alternative to the widely available artisanal burnt bricks which have caused massive deforestation in Africa, and in particular in Malawi. Durabric is made of soil, sand, cement and water - the mix is poured in a mold and compressed with hydraulic machines. A house made of Durabric contains 67% less CO2?than a house made of artisanal burnt bricks.

ECOPact green concrete?range is the industry’s broadest offering sustainable and low carbon construction. The product is sold at a range of low-carbon levels from 30%-100% lower embedded carbon compared to standard (CEM I) concrete.

Geocycle is?addressing the plastic waste challenge?through PlaNet Solutions which offers a fast track route to achieve plastic neutrality while supporting the creation of closed loop waste management solutions. It provides an avenue for plastic waste generators to invest in innovative circular solutions to tackle plastic pollution in high impact areas.

Hydromedia RoofTop Duo is a permeable concrete roof system that offers the possibility of turning inaccessible roofs into attractive, modern and safe areas for recreation and fun. This transformation is possible thanks to combining?Hydromedia?pervious concrete technology and Nidaroof water storage capacity membrane.

Maestro?is a cement specifically designed for masonry works offering 40% savings on block laying and plastering while exceeding conventional technical requirements. Maestro is suitable for many market applications including plastering and block or bricklaying, and also helps to reduce the CO2?carbon footprint of buildings, as it provides a lower-carbon alternative to conventional cement.

Material sourcing for?road construction?was historically considered at the last stages of a project. The complexity and the deep ground knowledge necessary for sourcing evaluations result in standardized designs based on assumptions and with little consideration for the local material availability.?ORIS?brings a new approach to the entire ecosystem with a deep local materials knowledge for all geographies.
Planet? is a cement that provides masons and project owners with a more sustainable solution in their building activities: the lowest carbon footprint for cement bags used for structural building applications, as well as an optional voluntary carbon compensation; zero waste on construction sites; reduced fatigue for the worker; and no need to change work habits.

Susteno?is the first resource-saving cement in Switzerland made of high quality processed mixed rubble from demolition projects. 85% of demolition rubble is recycled in Switzerland, and Holcim found a way to close the material cycle for the remaining 15% that would otherwise be landfilled. This conserves scarce landfill space (around 1200 truck loads in 2020), conserves primary raw materials, and saves 10% CO2 compared to a CO2-optimized Swiss mass cement (30% vs a type I cement).

TerraFlow?is serving customer's needs for highly durable construction solutions in extremely challenging underground applications such as tunnels and mines. TerraFlow offers a superior life cycle performance and cost while reducing the carbon footprint by 80% and the raw material consumption by 65%.

Thermedia?0.45 is a solution for constructing residential and utility, multi-storey buildings in cities. It combines the structural and insulation properties to construct faster and to fulfil strict thermal regulations. Thermedia 0.45 allows replacing traditional construction with thermal brakes to reduce the overall cost and complexity of construction, requires regular formwork and can be placed with minimum energy.
